How It Works

Make a Reservation

The first step once is to reserve a pig for yourself through our store or by reaching out by phone or email. The deposit for reserving a whole pig is $200, and halves are $100. After you make a reservation, we will contact you to confirm a few things, and will reach out again as the processing date approaches to provide more details and make sure everything is ready for the big day!

Processing Day!

Once the pig is fully grown and the processing date arrives, we will transport your animal to the processor at no charge. In the following days, the processor will reach out to you to gather details about how you would like your animal processed. They are very knowledgeable, and can help guide you through the process of choosing if you are unsure!

The cost of processing varies greatly, depending on the type of products you choose, starting at around $1.00/lb for roasts and chops. At the bottom of the page, we have included a copy of the price sheet supplied by Dover Processing that details the base processing costs, as well as the added costs of selecting smoked and cured products.

We will also contact you with the final price calculated from the hanging weight of the animal (provided by the processor) and the remaining cost after your deposit is subtracted. Once this is paid, the and the finished cuts of meat are released by the processor, they can either be picked up by the customer, or delivered by one of us.

The payment for processing must also be paid prior to pick-up or delivery. This is paid by you directly to Dover Processing, and is not included in the $4/lb price of the animal.
